The library was established in 1931 and is a part-time branch of the Shreve Memorial Library, which maintains over 600,000 volumes and circulates about 1.2 million items every year. The Gilliam branch provides books, audiobooks, music, movies, and programs for all patrons, including Art Club, Adult Coloring, Movie shows, and Preschool Aerobics. It is open 16 hours weekly.
