The Polk County Library Cooperative (PCLC) serves 600 thousand residents in the Bartow, the county seat of Polk County, Florida. The library maintains 700 thousand volumes and circulates 2.3 million items per year. Founded in 1997, the PCLC enables the city-owned and operated public libraries to open their door and provide materials and services to all residents of the area including those in the unincorporated area. In addition, library supports the services provided by the member libraries to provide five-day service a week and has reciprocal borrowing arrangements with Osceola County and with participating libraries in the Tampa Bay Library Consortium, including Highlands, Hardee, and Hillsborough counties.
