The Brevard County Libraries (Administration) serves more than six hundred thousand residents in the city of Cocoa, in Brevard County, Florida. The library maintains over 1.1 million volumes and circulates more than 3.7 million items per year. Founded in 1895, it started as a one-room rented for five dollars per month run by women volunteering in the community with books donated by local citizens. Today, it is composed of 17 branches all the way from Mims to Micco. In addition, the library is funded by the Brevard County Board of Commissioners, which appoints the Board of Trustees to govern it. They intend to carry out their mission to enable people of all ages to improve their quality of life by providing information and enrichment through traditional resources and new technology.
