The Jefferson County Public Library System (JCPL) serves more than half a million residents in Lakewood, the home rule municipality that is the most populous municipality in Jefferson County, Colorado. The library maintains nearly a million volumes and circulates more than 7.3 million items per year. It was established in 1952 when municipal libraries joined together under one system with a commitment to free all residents through knowledge. Today, JCPL has 15 libraries and the bookmobile, equipped with its three core values: innovation, accountability, and excellence, will continue its mission to help build an educated and vibrant community by providing equal access to information and opportunities.
