The Carbon Valley Branch Library serves more than 17,000 residents in the city of Firestone, in southwestern Weld County, Colorado. Founded in 1986 as the Weld Library District, it was renamed the High Plains Library District (HPLD) in 2018. As of this date, HPLD now operates seven branch libraries, bookmobile services, and six autonomous member libraries governed by their own separate boards of trustees, and the Carbon Valley Branch Library is one of them. On all 14 sites, it has an aggregate collection that includes nearly 700,000 book and serial volumes, more than 106,000 eBooks, more than 52,000 audio files, and more than 83,000 video files. Furthermore, it has registered nearly 120,000 borrowers, with nearly 2.8 million items circulated and more than 1.5 million visits.
