The Bourg Branch Library is a publicly funded and managed library serving more than 2,000 residents in the city of Bourg and census-designated places in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. It is an affiliate branch of the Terrebonne Parish Public Library, which was started in 1927 as a social club named "B.E.S.T.W.S.,” representing the last names of the charter members, that wants to provide community service and has since increased to 13 members and been named the Terrebonne Library Club. With only 428 donated volumes in the People's Bank Building, it has been moved and renovated numerous times, and now as the Terrebonne Parish Public Library, it has expanded to fully cater to its patrons, and Bourg Branch is one of them. The branch contributes to the overall collection and services of the parish library system, which includes almost 300,000 books and serial volumes, more than 16,000 E-Books, more than 13,000 audio files, and more than 33,000 video files. The parish library system circulates more than 400,000 items, has more than 91,000 registered borrowers, and receives more than 880,000 visitors annually across its eight outlets throughout the parish.
