The Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library serves 19,344 residents in the City of Cocoa and is part of the Brevard County Library. The Library System maintains approximately 1.1 million volumes and circulates 3.7 million items annually. The Branch Library, named for Catherine Schweinsberg Rood in 2017, houses the Brevard County Historical Commission and the Genealogy Department, which offers the earliest newspapers, early Brevard County Courthouse records, historical collections, and genealogy classes. The Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library also houses the Talking Books Library for the blind and physically challenged and a Creative Lab featuring 3D printing, audio and video production studios and software, and programming activities. In addition, it provides public computers, meeting and study rooms, WiFi, Homebound services, wireless printing, and library events such as Storytime, Crafts, Chess Club, and Game Time.
