The St. Lucie County Library System, established in 1954, serves 280,355 residents in the city of Fort Pierce. It has six branches serving the citizens and they include Kilmer, Hurston, Lakewood Park, Lewis, Morningside, and Port St. Lucie branches located across the County. It also operates the Pruitt Campus Library in partnership with Indian River State College. The library system maintains 260,118 volumes and circulates 762,000 items per year, including physical materials and digital collections. It offers public computers, internet access, interlibrary loans, and various library programs and services.
