The Port Charlotte Public Library serves 63,913 residents in the unincorporated Port Charlotte City and is part of the Charlotte County Libraries and History. The library maintains collections of 33,000 titles, contributing to the Library System's 257,345 volumes and 742,252 items in circulation annually. Port Charlotte Public Library opened its doors in 1961 and is housed in a joint building with the Cultural Center. It has a 24-seat meeting room, 12-seat conference room, quiet reading room, self-checkout station, drive-up book drop, and youth area. It provides technology facilities and services such as Chromebooks, Laptops, iPads, public computers, video editing software, WiFi, scan/copy machines, a 3D printer, and sewing machines.
