The J. C. Hamilton Branch Library, known as the South Caddo Branch, serves about 184,021 residents living in Shreveport City. The library opened its doors in 1961 and serves as one of the divisions of the Shreve Memorial Library, which maintains over 600,000 volumes, with more than 1.2 million items in annual circulation. It provides storytime, creativity programs, and basic computer classes for kids, children, and adults, as well as meeting rooms and other library resources.
