The Fairwood Branch Library is a publicly funded and managed library serving more than 220,000 residents of the city of Baton Rouge. It is a branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library (EBRPL), which houses books, A/V materials, and periodicals for all ages and contributes to the general collection and services of the entire county library system, which includes more than 1.6 million books and serial volumes, more than 53,000 E-Books, more than 62,000 audio files, and more than 127,000 video files, with a total circulation of more than 2.5 million items per year. It was established in 2013 and takes up 15,800 square feet of space. In addition to the main library, a book selling facility, and a mobile library, there are 13 more branches that combined receive more than 2.5 million visits and have more than 300,000 registered borrowers; one of these branches is the Fairwood Branch. The branch's facilities also include dedicated spaces for children, teens, and adults, with 40 PCs available for patron use, and an additional 10 laptops available for computer training classes and free wireless Internet access. Additionally, two AWE early literacy workstations for kids are available at Fairwood, along with a drive-thru window for book delivery and collection. The facility is completed by public meeting rooms, quiet reading rooms, storytime rooms, a room just for youths, and collaborative study spaces.
