The Broward County Talking Book Library serves 181,668 residents in the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Broward County Library, which owns and operates the library, circulates 9.8 million items annually and maintains 2.7 million volumes. The Talking Book Library is housed in the Main Library on Andrews Avenue and first opened its doors in 1977. It holds collections of audiobooks, audio magazines, and Braille materials, including fiction, nonfiction, classics, and bestsellers for blind and print-disabled children and adult patrons. It offers 76,117 talking books in a fiscal year.
