The Manhattan Beach Library serves 34,668 residents in the Manhattan Beach area and is a County of Los Angeles Public Library member. The library system maintains 5.3 million volumes and circulates 16.5 million items per year. Manhattan Beach Library was founded by the  Neptunian Women's Club of Manhattan Beach and served as a subscription library from 1910 until it joined the LA County Library in 1915. It is now housed in a  21,500-square-foot building with Meeting and Study rooms, Children's and Teen spaces, Spanish collections, large prints, nine Public computers, six Children's computers, six Laptop and Hotspot Kits, and four Early Learning computers. It also offers online homework help, in-person and telephone research assistance, and self-service photocopying and scanning services.
