The Mission Bay Branch Library is part of the San Francisco Public Library, which serves about 815,200 residents in San Francisco. The Library System maintains 2.7 million volumes and circulates over 10.6 million items annually. Mission Bay Branch Library opened its doors in July 2006 and is housed in a 7,500-square-foot building owned by the Mission Creek Senior Community Development. It holds 44,000 books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, a small collection of Chinese, Russian, and Spanish resources, Vinyl collections, and Juvenile Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, and French language materials. It has a community meeting room and Assistive technology, which includes an ADA internet station and a large print reader and books. The Mission Bay Branch hosts numerous library events, including Storytime, Creative Arts Workshops, and Tech Tutorials.
