The El Monte Library serves 106,907 residents in the City of El Monte and is a part of the County of Los Angeles Public Library. The library system maintains 5.3 million volumes and circulates 16.5 million items annually. Opened in 1890, El Monte Branch Library became a part of the County Library in 1913 and is housed in an 11,906-square-foot building with study rooms, spaces for children and teens, 13 public computers, three children computers, two early learning computers, four teen computers, eight laptop & hotspot kits, and eight express computers. It offers in-person and telephone research assistance, homework help, Leamos Literacy Online, book drop, storytimes, and other library events.
