The Carmel Valley Branch Library, a part of the Monterey County Free Library, serves 4,175 residents in the Village of Carmel Valley. The library started in December 1938 as the Carmelo Library and opened in its current location in 1980. It maintains collections of books, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, and magazines and circulates 35,302 items annually. It is housed in a 3,430-square-foot building and offers public computers with Internet and Microsoft Office, Scan/Fax/Print/Copy services, WiFi, and a Homework center. It also provides Preschool Storytime, Tech Hour, and special services such as Weekly Knitting Group, Makerspace Fairs, and Friends of the Carmel Valley Library First Saturday programs.
