The Montebello Library serves 61,200 residents in the City of Montebello and is a part of the Los Angeles County Library. The library system maintains 5.3 million volumes and circulates 16.5 million items per year. The Montello Library began in 1914 in a local newspaper office and relocated to its current location in 1966. It is housed in a 31,097-square-foot building with spaces for children and teens, large prints, books and DVD collections in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Armenian, newspapers, 14 public computers, four children's computers, seven Laptop and Hotspot Kits, and one early learning computers. It also offers storytime, homework help, research assistance, and other events.
