The Big Sur Branch Library serves about 1,474 residents in the City of Big Sur and is a part of the Monterey County Free Libraries. The library system maintains 313,160 volumes and circulates 434,081 items per year. The Big Sur Branch opened in November 1914 and is currently housed in a 1,179-square-foot building. It provides books, talking books on CDs, DVDs, magazines, and newspapers and records a total annual circulation of 9,356 items, including English and Spanish materials. It also provides WiFi, public computers with Internet, Microsoft Office, scan, fax, print, and copy services.
