The Tobin Library at Oakwell serves about 200,000 residents in Northeast San Antonio and Bexar County, including schools in Northeast Independent School District, Alamo Heights ISD, and Fort Sam Houston. The library was originally established in 1969 as the Oakwell Branch Library and reopened in December 2007 as the Tobin Library in honor of the Tobin family. It maintains 68,170 volumes and circulates audiobooks, art, reference, and media resources, and periodicals like Contact Kids, Kids Discover, National Geographic World, Ranger Rick, and Your Big Back Yard. Among its collections include a full range of Spanish materials. Tobin Library at Oakwell is housed in a 13,000-square-foot building and is open to the public seven days a week. It provides contact-free pickup, computer access, WiFi, and numerous events for all ages.
