The Portola Branch Library serves the residents of San Francisco and is a part of the San Francisco Public Library. The Library System maintains 2.7 million volumes and circulates 10.6 million items annually. Portola Branch opened in 1927 as a Deposit Station and moved to its current 6,300-square-foot building in 2009. It provides fiction and nonfiction books, reference materials, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, medium-sized collections of Chinese language materials, and a small collection of Spanish resources. It houses a seed lending library and also offers workshops, storytimes, and other library events.
