The George Memorial Library serves 12,520 residents in the City of Richmond and is one of the Fort Bend County Libraries. As the Main Library in the System, it contributes a major part of the 636,730 volumes and approximately 3.3 million items circulated annually by the Library System. Its collections span large-print books, parenting, Spanish-language books, teen materials, and literacy resources. Opened in June 1986, the George Memorial Library is housed in a 77,000-square-foot facility. The library building has a children's theater, genealogy/local history department, meeting room, an audiovisual department, and an exhibition space. It offers a Computer Lab, adult public computers with Microsoft Office and Spanish Interface, Visually ADA-adapted computers, Kurzweil computers, youth computers with educational databases and Software, technology classes, and WiFi. It also provides printing/scanning, photocopying, faxing, 3D printing, and notary services.
