The Family History Research at the Clayton Library Campus serves 2.3 million residents in the City of Houston, Harris County. The Library System maintains over 2.8 million volumes and circulates approximately 7.1 million items annually. The Library was founded in 1968 and is open from Monday to Saturday. It holds genealogical research collections for tracing U.S. and immigrant origins and provides meeting rooms, computers, print/copy/scan/fax, and mobile printing. It offers online and in-person programs, including Discover Black Houston History on the HPL Digital Archive, Newspapers on the Portal to Texas History, Preserving Church Records, Hispanic Collection Archive Tour, and School Spirit.
