The Crested Butte Library is a public library serving more than 1,000 residents of the city of Crested Butte in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is an affiliate branch of the Gunnison County Library District, which was founded in 1939. Crested Butte Library, housed in a two-story old Rock building, was opened in 1883 in response to rising demand for library services and a larger area. It adds to the county system's overall resources, which include more than 34,000 books and serial volumes, nearly 10,000 e-books, more than 2,000 audio files, and more than 3,000 video files. Also, the library system saw more than 160,000 visitors annually, more than 130,000 items circulated, and over 15,000 registered borrowers.
