The Skillman Branch Library is a publicly managed and funded library under the Detroit Public Library, serving more than 600,000 residents in the city of Detroit and the largest midwestern state of Michigan. As one of the affiliate libraries of Detroit Public Library (DPL), Skillman Branch was formerly opened in 1877 as the Centre Park branch, which started with only 34,000 collections. Today it adds to the overall collection of DPL, which includes almost 6.4 million books and serial volumes, nearly 4,000 eBooks, more than 130,000 audio files, and nearly 160,000 video files. with an aggregate visit of nearly 2.8 million patrons and a total circulation of almost 1.5 million of more than 400,000 registered borrowers in all 23 areas.
