The Chandler Park Branch Library is a branch of the Detroit Public Library (DPL) that serves more than 600,000 residents of Detroit, Michigan, a city in the Midwest. Founded in 1865, DPL opened Chandler Park in 1989 and first introduced computers to its patrons. Today, visitors can make use of not only the public PCs available but also other services not limited to books and magazines, such as study areas and after-school havens that serve as casual community centers. The Chandler Branch adds to the aggregate collection of DPL, which includes nearly 6.4 million book and serial volumes, almost 4,000 eBooks, more than 130,000 audio files, and nearly 160,000 video files. Additionally, with more than 400,000 borrowers registered, a total of nearly 1.5 items circulated and almost 2.8 million visits were recorded at all 23 sites.
