The Sand Creek Branch Library serves nearly half a million residents in the city of Colorado Springs, at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. It is public-funded and governed by the Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD), which was founded 136 years ago. From its humble beginnings as a mere reading room, it has grown into 20 sites and opened Sand Creek Branch in 1990. As of this date, Sand Creek Branch contributes to the aggregate collection of PPLD, which includes more than nearly 900,000 book and serial volumes, more than 74,000 eBooks, nearly 86,000 audio files, and almost 123,000 video files. Furthermore, it has circulated more than 8.4 million items, received almost 3.6 million visitors, and recorded nearly 300,000 registered borrowers across all sites.
