The Penrose Public Library serves residents in the city of Colorado Springs, at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. It is public-funded and governed under the Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD), which was founded 136 years ago. From its humble beginning as a mere reading room, as of this date, Penrose Public Branch contributes to the aggregate collection of PPLD, which includes more than nearly 900,000 book and serial volumes, more than 74,000 eBooks, nearly 86,000 audio files, and almost 123,000 video files. Furthermore, it has circulated more than 8.4 million items, received almost 3.6 visitors, and recorded nearly 300,000 registered borrowers across all 20 locations.
