The Grand Blanc - McFarlen Library serves 8,020 residents in the City of Grand Blanc, Genesee County. The library is a part of the Genesee District Library, which distributes over two million items annually and maintains 617,311 books. Grand Blanc Library services began in 1869, and in 1967 the Grand Blanc Library joined the Genesee District Library. Named for Joseph McFarlen, it became the McFarlen Public Library when it moved into its current 12,000-square-foot building on Perry Road in 1973. In addition to 90,000 books, 2,200 audiobooks, 1,300 music CDs, and 9,400 DVDs, it has Blu-rays and collections of Grand Blanc High School and Middle School Yearbooks from the 1920s through the 1990s in the Reference Section. Grand Blanc - McFarlen Library also offers 48 magazine titles and four newspaper subscriptions, a community room, two study rooms, 23 public computers, a check-out station, a business center, fax/copy services, and other programs.
