The Ellis Library and Reference Center is a division of the Monroe County Library System, which serves 20,295 residents in the City of Monroe. The Library System maintains 482,921 volumes and circulates 1.4 million items per year. Ellis Library and Reference Center operates a Business Resource Center in partnership with the MI-SBTDC to provide books and materials for entrepreneurs and business owners. It has two study rooms, free Wireless internet, a fax machine, microfilm reader/printers, scanner/photocopier, and computers, including 29 Public Computers, five Online Public Access Catalog, and three Reference Computers. It houses the Federal Depository Library and the General George A. Custer Collection. Other available services include notary, book clubs, preschool storytime, Lego clubs, and more.
