The Herndon Fortnightly Library serves about 24,500 residents in the City of Herndon and is a part of the Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL). The library system maintains 2.1 million volumes and circulates approximately 10.1 million items per year. The Herndon Library was founded by the Fortnightly Club in 1900 and became the Herndon Fortnightly Library in 1972 after it was leased to the FCPL. The library provides books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, Spanish language collections for children and adults, one computer with ZoomText software, meeting areas, and nine internet stations with Microsoft Office packages. It also offers book selection services, English conversation classes, and numerous other events for all ages.
