The Barron F. Black Branch Library serves 11,900 Norfolk City residents and is a part of the Norfolk Public Library. The library system maintains 550,511 volumes and circulates over 823,000 items per year. The branch library opened its doors in July 1977 and was named in honor of Barron Foster Black who served as a chairman of the Norfolk Foundation. The Library provides community sketchbooks for youths and adults, a computer lab, WiFi hotspots, a kid's zone, meeting rooms, printing services, and numerous events, including Babygarten, kinderSTEM, and Summer meals.
