The Washington Park Branch Library, a publicly funded and managed library and an affiliate library of the Madison Public Library (MPL), serves almost 600,000 residents in Milwaukee, a city in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan's western shore. Founded in 2003, Washington Library replaced Finney Library at W. North Ave., which was built in 1953. The Washington Park is only one of the 12 branches, plus the central library – MPL, plus the Dream Bus, with a total aggregated visits of more than 2.1 million and more than 163,000 registered borrowers, while the overall collection and services of MPL maintain almost 800,000 volumes and circulate almost four million items per year. The Washington Park Branch Library, which takes its name from the park it abuts, provides better customer service, superior community meeting space (conference rooms), a larger area for kids and teens, a larger selection of books, videos, CDs, and DVDs, and the ability to grow its exemplary adult tutoring program. There is curbside service offered.
