The R.T. Arnold Public Library serves 4,752 residents in the Town of South Hill and is a Mecklenburg County Public Library member. The Library System maintains 158,141 volumes and circulates 201,111 items per year. The R. T Arnold Public Library opened in 1969 on Lunenburg Avenue as the South Hill Branch Public Library. It was renamed in honor of Mr. R.T. “Tommy” Arnold, who donated a facility for the library. It now occupies a 15,000-square-foot building with spaces for teens, touchscreen computers, and various library collections.
