The New Market Area Library serves 2,150 residents in New Market Town and is a branch of the Shenandoah County Library System. The library maintains 140,200 books and serial volumes, 56,640 electronic books, 8,600 audio, and 9,900 videos, and it circulates over 232,700 items per year. The New Market Branch was opened in 1974 and is housed in a new facility behind the Hildeath Municipal building. It houses fiction and nonfiction books, large print books, CD collections, periodicals, public computers, and WiFi, and hosts Author Talks, Book Sales, and English Language events for second learners.
