The Main Street Library is one of the Newport News Public Libraries that serves over 184,000 City residents. The Main Street Branch, located near historic Hilton Village, opened its doors in the mid-1930s through the efforts of the Woman's Club of Hilton Village. It holds a collection of 261,000 books and serial volumes and circulates over 951,000 items annually. The Library offers storytime events, creative space for children, device training sessions, research assistance, a computer lab, WiFi, a copy, scan, and fax station, and printing services.
