The Lafayette Branch Library serves the residents of Norfolk City and is a part of the Norfolk Public Library. The library began in 1930 in a storefront and moved to its present location in 1970. The library system maintains over 550,000 volumes and circulates approximately 823,560 items per year, including print books and electronic resources. The Lafayette Branch has computers, WiFi hotspots, community sketchbooks for youths and adults, printers, and scanners, and offers a range of programs for all ages.
