The Dover Public Library is a public library serving more than 1,000 residents of the city of Dover, in Pope County, Arkansas. It is an affiliate branch of the Pope County Library System. The Dover Public Library started its effort in the 1950s with a stack of books at L.J. Churchill's General Mercantile Store was housed in an 800-square-foot dual-purpose building as Dover City Hall and Library in 1974. In response to the rising demand for library services and a larger area, the fund drive started in 1987, and the new 2,400-square-foot building was opened in 1988. It adds to the county system's overall resources, which include more than 100,000 books and serial volumes, more than 10,000 e-books, nearly 2,000 audio files, 6,000 video files, and more than 2,000 audio files. Also, the library system saw more than 140,000 visitors annually, more than 240,000 items circulated, and over 30,000 registered borrowers.
