The Clarksville Area Public Library, now known as the Buttler Library and Learning Center, serves 4,400 residents of Clarksville and neighboring communities. The library was founded in 1973 and was renamed the Buttler Library in 2014 in recognition of John Benjamin “Benjy” Burnett, Jr. and Joan Andrews Burnett's services to Clarksville town. It belongs to the Mecklenburg County Public Library, which maintains 158,141 volumes and circulates 201,000 items annually. The Clarksville Branch holds over 26,000 bar-coded titles in its collections, including best sellers, audio, periodicals, and DVDs, and provides WiFi, Internet, copying, and faxing services.
