The Central Library serves 733,919 residents in the City of Seattle and is a branch of the Seattle Public Library. The Library System maintains 1.8 million volumes and circulates 11.5 million items annually. The Central Library opened in its current location in 2004 and offers large collections of materials for all ages, Books Spiral, a 275-seat auditorium, a computer lab, public computers, meeting and study spaces, and a children's center. Additionally, it offers free classes, book groups, storytime, and other library events.
