The North Branch Library serves over 44,000 residents in the city of Wilkes-Barre, the county seat of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1923, the library belongs to the Osterhout Free Library, which in turn is a member of the Luzerne County Library System and maintains more than 189,000 volumes and 224,000 items in circulation annually. The North branch currently holds a collection of 15,000 items for kids, teens, and adults and offers a variety of programs and services.
