The Shively Branch Library and other Louisville Free Public Libraries serve over 633,000 residents of Jefferson County in the city of Louisville. The library was founded in 1942 out of civic generosity and community needs to provide homebound services and library resources for all patrons. The library offers programming activities and computer access to children and adults in addition to the circulation of fictional and non-fictional books and online materials.
