The Mason Square Branch Library, along with other Springfield City Libraries, serves over 154,000 residents in the city of Springfield, Hampden County. The library was founded in 1943 with collections kept in a rented storefront, and it was reopened in 2011 following a number of expansion phases and renovations. It has a volume holding capacity of more than 562,000 books and serials and circulates over 654,000 items annually. Its services include public computers, computer literacy classes, book clubs, crafts, fax service, and a community meeting space.
