The Casa Da Saudade Library serves about 100,941 residents in the city of New Bedford, Bristol County. The library, a part of the New Bedford Free Public Library, was built in 1971 with a federal fund and began to operate with a collection of 3,000 items in a rented storefront on Rivet Street. The branch library now has over 34,000 volumes, magazines, newspapers, audio, videos, and DVDs in English, Portuguese, and Crioulo languages, as well as a special collection of materials for Portuguese fishermen. It also provides events for all patrons to explore.
