The Dudley Literacy Center is a publicly funded and managed library that serves almost 60,000 residents in the city of Roxbury, a neighborhood within the city of Boston, Massachusetts. It is an affiliate branch of the Boston Public Library (BPL). BPL was established in 1848 and first opened to the public in 1854 at Mason Street, where it started with only a 16,000-volume collection. The Dudley Literacy Center is just one of the 26 branches that make up the library system's current expansion to fully serve its patrons. It contributes to the system's overall collection and services, which now total more than 8.2 million books and serial volumes, more than 50,000 E-Books, more than 38,000 audio files, and more than 68,000 video files. Over 200,000 people have registered as borrowers with the library system, which has 26 sites and circulates more than 3.7 million items each year.
