The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library serves more than 940,000 residents in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County. The library holds roughly 950,000 volumes, and more than 5.5 million items are circulated annually. Since its founding in 1891, the library has expanded to 20 locations, including the main library, a cutting-edge children's and young adults' library, and a network of branch libraries throughout the county.
