The Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County serves about 210,560 residents in the city of Rochester and is part of the Monroe County Library System. It is the MCLS's operational epicenter and is housed in the Rundel Memorial Building and the Bausch and Lomb Public Library Building in downtown Rochester. The library system maintains over 945,950 volumes and circulates approximately 1.4 million items annually. At the Central Library, patrons are provided access to public computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office, copying, faxing, and notary services as well as reference and research assistance, computer and technology classes, and various programs like family storytime, black film festival, book talks, coding class, and crafts.
