The Smithsburg Library serves more than 3,000 residents in the city of Smithsburg, in Washington County, Maryland. It is a publicly funded and managed library that opened in 2015 under the Washington County Free Library (WCFL) System, founded in 1901. The county library system now has about 300,000 book volumes, more than 75,000 eBooks, more than 6,000 audio files, and almost 3,000 video files, and Smithsburg Branch Library contributes to it. Additionally, WCFL serves the county's nearly 88,000 registered borrowers and receives nearly 300,000 visits and over 900,000 circulations annually from all nine of its locations.
