Mildred Whipple Library serves 1,200 residents in the City of Drain. Established in 1932, the library joined the Douglas County Library system in 1952. The library remained a member of the DCLS until March 2017, when it was closed and reopened in November 2018 as an independent library. Mildred Whipple Library circulates 8,200 items per year and offers books, magazines, DVDs, online resources, programs for all age groups, public computers, free Wi-Fi, copying, and printing services.
