The Local History and Genealogy Library is a public library that serves nearly 185,000 residents in the city of Mobile, Alabama. It is an affiliate branch of the Mobile Public Library, founded in 1947. In response to the rising demand for library services, the Local History and Genealogy Library was founded in 1997. Furthermore, it contributes to the county library system's entire resources, which comprise almost 600,000 books and serial volumes, over 3,000 e-books, over 68,000 audio files, and close to 69,000 video files. More than 196,000 registered borrowers, about 1.7 million items circulated annually, and more than 1.4 million people visited the library system each year.
