The East Columbia Branch Library serves over 105,000 residents of Columbia, a census-designated place in Howard County, Maryland. The library is publicly funded and affiliated with the Howard County Library System, which maintains more than 1.1 million volumes and circulates 8.5 million items per year. The branch opened its doors in 1994 and currently provides patrons with study and meeting rooms, spaces for Teen Time, HiTech, and Homework Club, a passport center, 74 public computers with internet access and Microsoft Office, technology services, and programs for all ages.
